She sat down in her deep, comfy chair in the family room with a loud sigh. The Christmas cookies were cooling, the twins were over at their grandmother’s house helping her bake now. They would probably make a bigger mess more than helping but their Babcia never minded as long as she got time with her precious little ones.


She picked up her fabric and needle and found her place on the pattern. This was her down time and she smiled as she began counting and stitching and letting go of everything else.

She sensed him as he walked into the room, she always did and it made her smile more.

He laid his arms across the top of her chair and watched silently as she stitched. A few minutes passed before she felt the back of his fingers gently caress her cheek before moving to caress her ear.

“What are you creating now my love?”

She cuddled his fingers with her cheek. “The other mistletoe pattern my angel.”

“Ah.” He reached over and snatched the fabric from her hands as she was pulling up on the thread. Holding it above her head, he leaned over and kissed the top of her head. She craned her head back to look at him and he kissed her deeply. As he reluctantly pulled away, he smiled impishly. “I SO love this tradition.”
